Mumbai, 24th July 2026, The NM Joshi Marg Police have registered a case against The Bar Stock Exchange, Lower Parel, following a complaint regarding the public performance of music.
The complaint, FIR No. 0312/2026, was filed on 24th July by Sandeep Gaikwad of Novex Communications Pvt. Ltd. The complaint states that from 26th December 2025 onwards, more than 21 popular Bollywood tracks including Kala Chashma, Bang, Ghoomar, and Burj Khalifa were played at the venue between 9 PM – 11 PM without the required Public Performance License from the respective music labels such as Sa Re Ga Ma, Tips Music, T-Series, Zee Music, and YRF.
The case names Arikya Hotels Pvt. Ltd. and Directors Manas Modi and Rikki Raut.
Authorities have stated that an investigation is underway and that they are reviewing procedures at other outlets of the brand as well.About The Bar Stock Exchange
The popular restaurant-bar chain currently has 13 outlets across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, including locations in Andheri West, Bandra, BKC, Colaba, Juhu, Malad, Dadar, Chembur, Lower Parel – Kamala Mills, Belapur, Vashi, Viviana Mall – Thane, and Hiranandani Estate – Thane.
Industry sources note that venues playing music in public spaces are generally required to obtain appropriate licenses from copyright holders as per standard industry practice.
