The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the first-ever sea shipment of value-added flavoured makhana (fox nuts) from Bihar to Canada, marking a significant milestone in India’s agri-export sector.

The consignment highlights the growing global demand for processed and value-added agricultural products while showcasing Bihar’s GI-tagged makhana in international markets. Sea shipment offers a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to air freight, enhancing the competitiveness of Indian exports.

The initiative is expected to boost exports of value-added makhana, increase farmers’ income, strengthen food processing, and expand India’s footprint in the global healthy snacks market. APEDA continues to promote agricultural exports by improving market access and supporting value addition for Indian produce.
