The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences – Captain Srinivasa Murthy Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CSMCARI) under the Ministry of AYUSH on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Commissionerate of Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (CIM&H). The MoU outlines a collaborative framework for providing testing services, training and executing a collaborative project on “research studies for standardisation of selected high-order drugs”.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is an important step towards strengthening collaborative efforts between these premier institutions. Its expected outcomes include:

  • Improved Quality and Safety:  Rigorous testing and standardization protocols will ensure high quality and safety of Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medicines, benefiting both doctors and patients.
  • Specialized Training Programs:  NABL accredited training guidance will enhance the capabilities of CIM&H laboratories and ensure compliance with the highest standards.
  • Collaborative Research Initiative:  Joint research projects will focus on evaluating the toxicity of selected high-profile drugs, providing valuable data to the scientific community, and ensuring the safety and efficacy of these treatments.
  • Capacity Building and Knowledge Exchange:  This partnership will foster a collaborative environment with sustainable knowledge exchange and capacity building to encourage innovation and excellence in Indian medicine and homeopathy.

The Ministry of AYUSH said the partnership aims to test selected raw drugs and finished products for drug standardisation. It will also provide NABL accreditation training guidance to CIM&H's laboratory. Ravinarayan Acharya, Director General, CCRAS, Chennai said, “This MoU between CCRAS and CIM&H has set a precedent for other states in India to come forward and join hands with CCRAS, Ministry of AYUSH for various research and development activities.
